About Mrs. Way |
Hello students and families!
I am excited to work with you and your child this school year! I am Mrs. Way and the 2018-19 school year will be my tenth year of teaching. This is my third year at Warren Consolidated Schools and my first year at Beer! Before coming to Beer, I taught math and English at Warren Mott.
I am originally from Flushing, Michigan (a northwest suburb of Flint) and I graduated from Flushing High School. I earned my bachelor's degree in special education & psychology from Grand Valley State University. I will be graduating from Eastern Michigan University in April 2019 with my master's degree in educational psychology. Before my teaching career, I spent five summers working as a counselor and lifeguard at summer camps!
For fun, I love to read! My goal is to read 65 books this year, and I am almost halfway there! I also love to travel and have been to 6 different countries. I also like to stay active - I was a competitive swimmer at Grand Valley and I still compete on the United States Master's swimming circuit. In the past few years I have taken up running. I mostly run in 5K races, but I will be running my second half marathon in October this year! In the winter I am on a coed adult dodgeball team, and in the spring I play in a kickball league.
I live in the lovely lakeside community of St. Clair Shores with my husband (who is also a teacher) and our three cats.
